The left side gear changer (SL-TX50-LN) uses the Friction Shifting Mechanism. This means it does not click into positions 1, 2, and 3. You slide it until the chain moves. This is advantageous as it allows you to “trim” (micro-adjust) the derailleur to stop the chain from rubbing against the metal cage when you’re in different gears at the back.
